In a study on mice, injecting a preparation of DSIP over the mice&#8217;s lifetime decreased total spontaneous tumor incidence 2.6-fold.<sup id=\"cite_ref-31\" class=\"reference\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Delta-sleep-inducing_peptide#cite_note-31\"><span class=\"cite-bracket\">[<\/span>31<span class=\"cite-bracket\">]<\/span><\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n<li>The same study found it to also have geroprotective effects: it slowed down the age-related switching-off of oestrous function; it decreased by 22.6% the frequency of\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Chromosome aberrations\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chromosome_aberrations\">chromosome aberrations<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<a title=\"Bone marrow\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bone_marrow\">bone marrow<\/a>\u00a0cells and it increased by 24.1% maximum life span in comparison with the control group.<\/li>\n<li>Levels of DSIP may be significant in patients diagnosed with\u00a0<a title=\"Major depressive disorder\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Major_depressive_disorder\">major depressive disorder<\/a>\u00a0(MDD). Ten children aged 3\u201316 years were given a ten-day course of Deltaran and their\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Bioelectric\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bioelectric\">bioelectric<\/a>\u00a0activity recorded.
